The maritime sector is of crucial importance to modern economies and marine activities continue to expand with the growth of international trade and business.
This one-day workshop is designed to offer an introduction to the new maritime law of UAE with particular focus on maritime documentation, insurance and disputes which are the key areas of marine and shipping.

Objectives
The participants will gain better understanding of
- Overview of New UAE Maritime Law and executive regulations
- Defining functions and obligations of different types of bills of lading including E-bills of lading
- Limitation of liability changes
- Examining maritime disputes and how to resolve them effectively
- Identifying types of marine insurance and legal issues pertaining to cargo claims
- Wreck removal provisions – broadening of those provisions

Omar Omar
Partner - Al Tamimi & Company
Omar joined Al Tamimi & Company in 2008. He is a Partner, Head of the Transport & Logistics sector group and Head of the Insurance practice in the UAE. Omar is also a core member of the Projects sector group.
Wesley Wood
Partner - Al Tamimi & Company
Wesley has over 14 years’ experience advising on a wide range of shipping and international trade matters focused primarily on disputes. He has significant experience acting for clients in ship arrests and attachments relating to charterparty disputes, bunker, cargo, mortgage and crew claims amongst many others. Wesley also specialises in large complex international trade, trade finance and commodity disputes. He is a member of the Transport & Insurance group.
Yasser Madkour
Partner - Al Tamimi & Company
Yasser is a Partner and has a particular interest in commercial litigation, who specializes in handling disputes and claims relating to all types of bills of lading and charter-parties, as well as the custom and insurance policy disputes. He has been involved in numerous incidents in a broad range of shipping sectors including the pollution, collisions, grounding, salvage, and general average cases.
Adam Gray
Senior Counsel - Al Tamimi & Company
Adam is a UK qualified solicitor having trained at an International Group P&I Club in London. He is a Senior Counsel, Transport & Insurance in Dubai. Adam specialises in maritime dispute resolution. He regularly assists clients by litigating, arbitrating and settling complex contentious cases across a wide spectrum of matters. Adam is pleased to advise on English and UAE law, with a focus on charterparty and cargo disputes.
