About the Event

For the past few years, the world of venture capital has enjoyed a veritable boom period driven by excess liquidity in capital markets and a breakaway bull run in global tech stocks and valuations. More recently, the world of venture capital has experienced an unexpectedly tumultuous period as a result of various macroeconomic headwinds globally, which in turn, indirectly impacts the asset class within the MENA region and more specifically in the UAE and Dubai.

This webinar will provide participants with a legal perspective overview of the recent market trends accompanying the up, and down, turns of the venture capital industry and inform how individuals, whether investors or start-up founders, on how to prepare themselves to move forward.

Abdullah leads the Taylor Wessing’s Corporate Commercial Group of our Dubai Office including the firm’s M&A, venture capital & emerging companies' practices. Abdullah is recognised as one of the MENA region’s leading corporate lawyers with extensive roots in technology, media and communications. He has over 27 years’ experience in corporate law practising in London and the Middle East specialising in M&A, corporate finance, venture capital and special situations.

Abdullah is also a board member of the Middle East Venture Capital Association (MEVCA) and co-founder and chairman of both Dubai Angel Investors and Saudi Angel Investors which are both fully capitalised funds involving large groups of angels / individuals investing on a micro-VC investment thesis.
