  • Raise awareness, build capacity, promote and support the development and implementation of CSR and sustainability best practices
  • Discuss and build strategy on various CSR, sustainability, and good governance topics and issues
  • Develop collaborations with peer companies to lead on specific CSR, sustainability, and good governance issues and build learning resources
  • Provide feedback to the CRB on the value, effectiveness, and efficiency of a company’s services and products

Objectives for 2021:

  • To increase employees engagement and awareness towards maintaining positive mental health, happiness and wellbeing
  • To make employees’ mental health a priority and implement initiatives to address issues related to it

Deliverables:

  • Organize a webinar on raising awareness on factors affecting mental health, what are the different kind of mental health problems and how to identify signs and symptoms of the same, and how to encourage employees for an open dialogue and share their concerns if they are facing issues
  • Conduct a campaign titled “Speak aloud, share your thoughts and feel good”. The campaign involved the below:
    • Create awareness and train the first point of contact of employees like welfare officers, supervisors, line managers, camp boss etc.
    • Prepare a list of the various distress symptoms like stress, binge eating, anxiety, depression, alcoholism, insomnia, etc. which can be identified by abnormal/deviated behavior like alcoholism, substance abuse, absenteeism, violence, poor hygiene, etc.
    • Initiate employee interaction though surveys and awareness workshops to identify distress symptoms and reach out to the right person
    • Plan and organize intervention programs to eliminate /reduce the risks associated with poor mental health to enhance happy employees, manage absenteeism and other such behaviors

Objectives for 2021:

  • To explore global benchmarks and tools for assessing D&I within an organization and take active measures to improve it across various pillars of:
    • Gender Diversity
    • PWDs
    • Diversity of culture age and nationality
  • To raise awareness among employees towards inclusive culture for PWDs through internships, employment and assistive technology.

Deliverables for 2021:

  • Organize webinar to understand global perspective on D& I and how to measure, monitor and report across different pillars of Gender Diversity, PWDs and other criterions.
  • Conduct a campaign titled “Celebrating Diversity by Embracing Inclusion”. The campaign’s objectives are:
  • Raise awareness among employees and their families to embrace diversity & inclusion to create an overall societal impact.
  • The companies can organize campaign internally as well as externally and may take broad theme or theme specific to Gender empowerment, PWDs, nationality, age etc.

Objectives for 2021:

  • To explore best strategies on attracting and retaining Emirati Nationals in private sector
  • To increase awareness on engaging graduate trainees at workplace in different sectors to give them wide exposure and increase their career choice

Deliverables for 2021:

  • Organize a webinar to explore best strategies on attracting and retaining Emirati Nationals in private sector with specific reference to salaries, benefits and pension schemes, and understand about the graduate trainee programmes with perspective/requirements of different universities and colleges

    Objectives for 2021:

    • To identify issues and challenges, both pre-existing and emerging, related to remote working
    • To explore and identify tools, legal framework, initiatives and mechanisms to implement that would provide practical and effective mental health and wellbeing strategies for remote working, using examples of best practices
    • To make recommendations to the larger business community for setting up effective remote working strategies and plans

    Deliverables for 2021:

    • Organize a public seminar on remote working, suggested topics:
      • Managing Efficiency, Productivity and Motivation of Remote Working Employees
      • Effectively Managing Teams that are Working Remotely
      • Adopting best strategies to companies can make remote working a success

    Objectives for 2021:

    • To engage with suppliers on responsible business practices
    • To address sustainable procurement and sourcing

    Deliverables for 2021:

    • Organize a webinar inviting members and suppliers to share and agree on best practice for measuring sustainability performance in the supply chain
    • Develop a guide on developing sustainable procurement strategies (measures, sourcing, governance, compliance, impact, etc)

      Objectives for 2021:

      • To raise awareness and communicate the importance of prompt payment and knock on effects of late payments
      • To encourage the culture of prompt payment practices for subcontractors and suppliers among Dubai Business community at large.

      Deliverables for 2021:

      • Develop and publish a voluntary Dubai Chamber Prompt Payment Charter for the Dubai business community
      • Organize a webinar to raise awareness about the PP Charter to encourage companies to be the signatories of the charter and pledge that they will abide by, and promote the principles of the Charter by inviting companies who already have set a positive example in practice of the same
      • Conduct a campaign titled “Creating a culture of Prompt Payments, supporting your suppliers and vendors in establishing a system for prompt payments.” This campaign will involve:
        • Creating awareness sessions for suppliers and vendors on signing charter as a prequalification
        • Training on enablers of the charter and how to implement these to be able to sign the charter

        Objective for 2021:

        • To raise awareness on Road Safety within the task force member companies

        Deliverables for 2021:

        • Conduct a Drivers training session on the topic of defensive driving
        • Conduct a Road Safety Seminar on the topic of emerging Road Safety technologies or Driver health and wellbeing
        • Conduct a Road Safety campaign on the topic of Zero road accident week or Driver health and wellbeing

        Objectives for 2021:

        • To explore the key aspects of the "UAE Circular Economy Policy," expectations from the private sector and how the private sector can contribute in implementation of the policy

        • To raise awareness on reducing and recycling plastic waste, food waste, e-waste, and introducing home recycling for employees

        Deliverables for 2021:

        • Organize a webinar in coordination with Ministry of Climate Change and Environment to understand in details about the “UAE Circular Economy Policy”, its implementation plan and the role of private sector

        • To conduct a campaign titled “Let’s reduce and recycle” with all 4 components of reducing and recycling plastic waste, food waste, e-waste and recycling from home

          Objectives for 2021:

          • To raise awareness on the subject of indoor environmental quality in retrofitted buildings
          • To address the effect of COVID-19/pandemics on green buildings

          Deliverables for 2021:

          • Produce a publication on indoor environmental quality in green buildings
          • Organize a webinar to address the effect of COVID-19/pandemics on green buildings

          • Organize a seminar with the support of MOHRE to share - in detail - about Tawteen programme to attract and retain best Emirati Nationals
          • Organize seminar on attracting and engaging Emirati Graduate trainees in the private sector

          Objectives for 2020:

          • To increase employees engagement and awareness towards maintaining positive mental health, happiness and wellbeing
          • To make employees more driven for greater motivation, ownership, accountability, engagement and satisfaction( You said, you did it, you made it happen and you are happy now)

          Deliverables for 2020:

          • Organize seminar on how to successfully engage employees towards maintaining positive mental health, happiness and wellbeing
          • Organize campaign, seminars, workshops or activities on health, happiness and wellbeing. This may involve the following steps:
            • Discuss with employees by conducting discussion forums of employees groups, short survey, pulse checks through meetings to understand employee’s perspective on health, happiness and wellbeing to find out the various topics/ activities that they would like to address to maintain their good health and happiness.
            • Make a list of initiatives ( 1 per quarter or six monthly or one in year, depending on the activities listed, projects identified etc. as per the feasibility) in the form of annual health and happiness calendar for 2020, identify champions, engage employees, implement feasible ideas, show case the results and recognize employees for their contributions.
            • Report the process, results, impact, challenges faced, learning in the form of seminar.

          Objectives for 2020:

          • To explore how D&I has a potential to create shared value and create impact through - Gender Diversity - Inclusiveness of People with Determination (PWDs) - Diversity of culture, age, and nationality
          • To explore the opportunities for the inclusion of PWDs at workplace through internship or employment • To raise awareness among employees to identify prejudices and biasness at workplace

          Deliverables for 2020:

          • Organize seminar on various best strategies and practices on D&I, its impact on employees and business performance, and how to measure it
          • Organize a career fair for potential PWD candidates as a part of job readiness / preparedness initiative for potential employees and employer to gain first-hand experience for both
          • Organize a campaign on instilling D&I at workplace and a workshop on behavioral change or disability etiquette for employees within the companies. Process, results, impact, challenges faced, and learnings will be discussed in a seminar.

          Objectives for 2020:

          • To explore and identify the key opportunities available for businesses to engage with supply chain partners in increasing operational efficiency • To share best practices for businesses to engage with supply chain partners in reducing waste
          • To publish a supplier scorecard (optional)

          Deliverables for 2020:

          • Organize a panel discussion to map the key opportunities available for businesses to increase operational efficiencies and competitiveness
          • Conduct a visit to a task force member site to showcase best practices in waste reduction at the operational environment
          • Develop a supplier scorecard framework/template

          Objectives:

          • Raise awareness and communicate the importance of prompt payment and knock on effects of late payments through a series of public webinars with the support from Task force members.
          • Understand what is causing the problem and determine how best to address it through consultation with the Task force members.
          • Change the culture of late payment by developing a voluntary Dubai Chamber Prompt Payment Charter for the Dubai business community.
          • Conduct a review of global best practices and accordingly guidance customers as well as suppliers and sub-contractors on how to avoid and handle late payment within the Dubai context.

          Deliverables:

          • The Task force members will share their best practices in the form of a webinar for the larger business community. This will have following steps:
            • The task force members will share their own best practices in the form of a presentation file with CRB ( Dubai Chamber Centre  for Responsible Business)
            • The CRB will then organize a meeting where all the companies can present their best practices.
            • These best practices will then be compiled together in the form of one presentation and the member companies will share this with wider business community through a webinar.
          • The task force members will develop a voluntary Dubai Chamber Prompt Payment Charter for the Dubai business community.
            • The task force members will raise awareness among their own clients, suppliers and vendors to be the signatories to the Dubai Chamber Prompt Payment Charter and pledge that they will abide by, and promote, the principles of the Charter and tackle the culture of late payment by setting a positive example.
            • The Charter will encourage signatories to develop policies for prompt payment for its subcontractors and suppliers and measure their own performance regarding payments.
          • Task force members will develop a step by step guide for the wider business community on prompt payment practices that can be adopted by any business to review its own internal systems and processes and come up with standard operating procedures to expedite the payments of its subcontractors and suppliers.

          Objectives for 2020:

          • To work in collaboration towards achieving common community goals

          Deliverables for 2020:

          • Organize a session to introduce youth development programs to the task force members
          • Organize a campaign with Rawafid Centre for Development and Education* to support their youth programs
          • Support UAE Social Leaders Program** managed by Al Ahli Group
          • Encourage members to share information related to youth development events, news articles and publications throughout the year *Rawafid works with youth from low-income backgrounds and aims to empower them as individuals by providing them with basic education and career development opportunities. They have centers in Dubai (same Emirates Crescent building, Al Garhoud) and Sharjah. ** Social Leaders is a practical training program for youth, aged 20 - 35, from the UAE universities, who will be trained by professionals and advanced speakers to help youth harness their energies and channel them to create valuable social change.

           

          Unlock the Potential of Young Talent During and Post Covid-19 Pandemic

          Objectives for 2020:

          • To raise awareness on road safety within the task force member companies
          • To engage with external stakeholders on road safety-related issues

          Deliverables for 2020:

          • Organize road safety training for drivers focused on improving driver behavior
          • Organize site visits to the companies to showcase their best practices on road safety (max. 2 visits)
          • Organize road safety campaign to encourage safer driver behavior
          • Encourage members to share information related to road safety events, news articles, and publications throughout the year

          Objectives for 2020:

          • To explore key challenges faced by businesses and their potential solutions towards managing waste, including food waste
          • Bring in attitudinal and behavioral change among employees and improve awareness on elimination of single use plastics (reduce), segregation at source (recycle)

          Deliverables for 2020:

          • Organize a panel discussion or any other mode of knowledge transfer to seek solutions to different problems and challenges faced by businesses in segregation, collection, storage, transportation and recycling of waste. This may involve the following steps:
            • Gather questions in advance from companies on the critical issue that their business is facing on waste management
            • Categorize questions into different themes
            • Address these broad themes through a panel discussion, best practice seminar, multi-stakeholder dialogue to address the queries raised by companies

            And/or

            • Publish a guidebook with all questions raised by businesses and their answers along with key challenges that companies face and their solutions regarding waste management
          • Let’s Reduce and Recycle” Campaign on office recycling for a quarter or six months duration with clear deliverables on quantum of waste segregated and sent for recycling. This may involve the following steps:
            • Collect baseline data from employees through a questionnaire/focus group discussion on why employees are not segregating waste
            • Organize an internal recycling campaign
            • Collect weekly data on the quantum of waste segregated/recycled
            • Collect data over the stages of the campaign from the employees through questionnaire/focus group discussion on why employees are now segregating their waste. This will help analyze if there is any attitudinal and behavioral change involved
            • Compile the collected data
            • Report the process, results, impact, challenges faced, and the learnings in the form of seminar

            Objectives for 2020:

            • To raise awareness on the importance of greening existing workplaces/buildings
            • To address the subject of retrofitting existing buildings into green buildings and the different steps involved in the process

            Deliverables for 2020:

            • Publish a toolkit on greening of existing buildings in terms of environmental-friendly building materials, indoor air quality, and eco-cleaning and sanitization of buildings
            • Publish a checklist on the list of steps involved in the procedure of retrofitting buildings
