2. China Belt and Road Initiative and UAE Potential Trade Gains
3. UAE Economic Outlook Using Dubai Chamber Macroeconomic Model

Dubai Chamber cordially invites you to attend the Business Seminar for 2019. The Seminar will present the following three important topics:

The Global Economic Outlook for 2019 and Beyond

This presentation will give an overview of the expected developments in the world economy in 2019 and beyond. The global trade growth has slowed so far in 2018, with the U.S – China trade tensions already taking a toll on confidence and investment plans of multinationals. Moreover, further monetary tightening in the advanced economies expected during 2019, along with mounting concerns about the pace of China economic growth, may lead to further slowdown in the global economy. With downside risks intensifying for 2019, this presentation will identify the positive growth spots for Dubai businesses across the growing regions of the world. It starts by providing an overview of the global economy, and goes over major recent trends and outlook; then it shifts the focus to Dubai, and identifies its best performing markets, and its potential business opportunities.

China Belt and Road Initiative and UAE Potential Trade Gains

This presentation will give an overview of the China Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which is the overland and maritime trade routes between China, Middle East, East Africa and Europe, along which many railways, roads, and industrial zones will be developed, and also seaports and their connections to overland trade routes. The BRI project covers 69 countries, 65% of the world’s population, 40% of the world’s land and 34% of the global GDP. The BRI is expected to decrease trade cost and lift trade barriers among many countries involved in this initiative. Several transport infrastructure projects were initiated and most of these projects are still in their construction phases, with completion dates in the coming five years. BRI is an open-ended initiative so that many new projects are likely to be initiated and implemented in the future. This will offer diverse business opportunities for the UAE businesses.

UAE Economic Outlook Using Dubai Chamber Macroeconomic Model

Dubai Chamber Macroeconomic Model (DCMM) has been developed to monitor the current and the future developments in the UAE economy and to assess the impact of the government policy measures on the economy. In addition, the DCMM forecasts and analyses the performance of the UAE business sector in the short and medium terms from macroeconomic point of view. This presentation will show the results of the DCMM for the UAE economy in the coming five years and how the different economic sectors are likely to be doing in terms of economic growth. It will also show to what extent the UAE economy is affected by the developments in the international markets, especially by the world demand for UAE exports, US monetary policy, and the oil price.
