Dardashat Internal Newsletter
This is a periodic publication which is used to promote internal communication about the latest Chamber news, information about different departments, employees and various employee related initiatives.
Coffee with DG
The Director General invites small groups of employees to have morning coffee in his office and discuss various issues and concerns, share ideas and also be informed of the general direction of the Chamber and how they can contribute to it in their individual roles. The DG covers all departments throughout the year.
Inter-departmental briefings
To promote a unified approach and coordination across departments, these are regularly held to ensure that information is shared across departments.
Cross-departmental teams
These are established teams with members from different departments who are assigned with a specific task or project by the Director General. The purpose of such teams is to allow the growth of the diversity of skills and promote cross departmental exchange of knowledge and information.
Intranet and Chamber facebook
The Chamber also has developed an intranet to be used as a platform for communicating internally and sharing knowledge and information. Each employee also has a dedicated page similar to facebook to post his/her own news and share information and articles.
Paternity and Marriage Leave
Employees also enjoy paternity leaves and marriage leaves aside from their annual leave entitlements.
Onboarding and Cultural Awareness
With a diverse workforce high on its agenda, the Chamber designed an induction programme to ensure that new employees are onboarded in a proper and culturally sensitive manner.
The induction programme runs once a month and all new joiners have a compulsory participation. The two day event kicks off with a meeting with the Director General who gives an overall introduction to the Chamber and sets the scene for the remainder of the induction programme where the director of each department personally gives a session to new joiners about his/her function. On day two the chamber hosts a lunch for new joiners where they meet a number of employees from a cross section of departments and it is completed with a tour of the Chamber facilities.
Cultural Awareness
During the onboarding process, new joiners are also required to attend a cultural awareness session. This is to induct expatriates who are new to the region or culture about the UAE culture and religion and how to work with nationals. The workshop is also open for employees’ spouses. In addition, the Chamber offers Arabic training courses for all expats who are interested.
